Adam Johns MA, LMFT
I am a Licenced Marriage and Family Therapist in Washington State.
I have been practicing couple, family, and child counseling for nearly 4 years. I worked for almost 2 years with Compass Health while pursuing my master's degree from Antioch University Seattle and my remaining experience in my private practice. I have also worked for 4 years as a Social Skills Counselor through the Aspiring Youth social skills program often working with their summer camps programs.
My primary orientation consists of selective borrowing from several different domains of counseling. I use Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy, Bowen Therapy, Psychodynamic Theory, Experiential Therapy, and Narrative Therapy. I use specifically chosen interventions from each orientation, depending on the needs of my client(s), and what will work best to help them.
I firmly believe that you are not broken, and my therapeutic style will follow suit. We will work together on identifying where your struggles come from, building on your strengths, and making changes in your life and the interactions that you have with others that will last. My goal is to help you make changes that you need to make things better.
In addition to my private practice, I am a lead facilitator and co-founder of the company Wheelhouse Workshop, which uses games like Dungeons and Dragons to teach social skills to teens in the greater Seattle area.
